Educational Opportunities

Of course we consider all of our field trips and other programs educational, but we have done special educational programs in the past. For example:

Gary Edwards and Ron Montgomery have collaborated to offer a 4-lecture and 3-field trip Beginning Birding class for adults. One of those classes offered Act 48 credits for teachers.

Gary and Ron also collaborated to present a “lab” (really a lecture) for an ornithology class at Clarion University.

Several of our members have offered programs for public schools.

SRAS set up a Birdsong Learning Center at the Clarion Public Library in memory of master birder Margaret Buckwalter. The Center has numerous CDs and related equipment to help folks learn to recognize bird songs. Earphones are available at the front desk. One can listen to instructional CDs and take quizzes to test your knowledge.

All of our programs and field trips are open to the public at no charge.
